Hi, I am planning to take the night train from Tokyo to Kyushu. I know JR Rail pass will cover the basic cost, including nobinobi. We have 4 adults and thinking of getting sleeper type, may I know what are the options available and the cost?
Taking Sunrise Seto from Tokyo To Kyushu
probably best explained here >> http://jprail.com/trains/sunrise-seto.html .. and just quietly the Sunrise Seto doesn't go to Kyushu .. Takamatsu is on Shikoku :)
Hello there,
JPRail has done some great work explaining all the details. Basically the JR Pass will cover the basic fare for you but you will have to pay for any additional charges such as limited express surcharge and compartment charge. This can add to quite a bit unfortunately.
Also the Sunrise goes to Matsue and Takamatsu. I'd advise getting out at Okayama station and taking the Shinkansen from there if you wish to travel on to Kyushu.
Hope this helps,
Daniel
