Hi! we are going to travel to Tokyo on SEP. From Narita travel to Kyoto by train. In a couple of days travel from Kyoto to center of Tokyo and visit there Disney lands (travel from Ueno to and back for 2 days). Can you please advise if there is a real advantage in buying JR pass (7 days) for all these trips. Can we use it in metropolitan? Is it accepted by rail only or by busses as well? Much appreciate your reply.
Advantage of JR pass
Hi there,
I do recommend a 7 day JR Pass, the cost of a 7 day JR Pass is about the same as a normal return ticket Tokyo - Kyoto using the Shinkansen. Now you get 7 days of unlimited travel for the same day.
The JR Pass also covers the Narita Express, local JR lines in Tokyo, to Disneyland and to a limited extend in Kyoto.
Buses run by companies other than JR are unfortunately not included.
Hope this helps,
Daniel
