I have a short few days to visit, arriving Osaka, 3 Days in Kyoto, 2 nights Nagoya or more likely Toyohashi visiting friends, possible day trip to Mt Fuji, back to Nagoya for one more night, and then back to KIX for return flight. JR pass looks economical and easy. Will that be the best choice?
Thanks
Short Stay. KIX, Kyoto, Nagoya, Toyohashi, Nagoya, KIX
Hi there,
I checked your route for the best options and - although it is close - normal tickets would be more economic for this itinerary. The JR Pass would have been worth it if you made a visit to Tokyo.
For your arrival, have a look at the Haruka + ICOCA package. It's the best way to travel from KIX to Kyoto.
Hope this helps,
Daniel
Hi Daniel
Thanks for help. I'm also wondering about convenience and travel times almost as much as cost. JR pass seems like it would cover most of the travel, without multiple visits to ticket offices/machines. Also travel times, would the JR pass allow shorter travel times than other methods? If the savings aren't much JR. feels easier, wondering if that's reality
Well it does save you a lot of time figuring out the right fares and buying tickets if you just hop on the train with the JR Pass. Even so, I am not sure how many minutes or hours of time saved we would be talking about.
My advise would be: if you go for the JR Pass, add in one amazing day trip that would be costly without the JR Pass. This to make the most of your time in Japan and of course the JR Pass itself :)
