Do i need to purchase a rail pass?

Hello everybody,

Im planning a trip to Japan next year and it is my first time going.
My plan is as followed:

Day 1: Tokyo
Day 2 : Tokyo
Day 3 : Tokyo
Day 4 : Tokyo
Day 5 Nagano
Day 6 : Tokyo
Day 7 : Kyoto
Day 8 : Kyoto
Day 9: Kyoto
Day 10: Kyoto
Day 11: Kyoto
Day 12: Osaka
Day 13: Osaka
Day 14: Osaka
Day 15: Osaka
Day 16: Nagoya
Day 17: Tokyo
Day 18: Tokyo
Day 19: Tokyo
Day 20: Tokyo

Do i need to purchase a rail pass ?
Its for 2 people.

Hi there,

You could consider using a 14 day JR Pass for travel to Nagano, Tokyo, Kyoto Osaka and Nagoya and finally back to Tokyo. You can use the Shinkansen to travel between all these cities and make good savings at the same time. As well some day trips out of these cities if the fancy takes you.
